What do you think about the new Trulia Voices design?

Asked by Vicky Gkiza, San Francisco, CA Fri Aug 29, 2008

It has been about a week since we introduced blogs and the new design for Trulia Voices. What do you think? Love it? Not so much? Any ideas/suggestions for us?

hello all!

thank you very much for your feedback. Here is what we've done so far

- increased the font size when answering a question, posting a comment and on the right rail of all pages. @elvis what do you think?
- removed quite a lot of 'noise' from the right rail to make the page cleaner
- increased the space where you can answer a question
- added keyword search on the http://www.trulia.com/voices (right below the ask, share and discover section) and in all questions pages (on the right rail). btw - stay tuned on search, much more will be coming in the coming weeks ;)
- various updates on navigation to make it easier to find what you need i.e. sort by most recent answers or questions or posts or comments

hope that helps! any additional feedback will be greatly appreciated as we are fine tuning the new design

Sometimes the simplest is the best.....I still find myself stumbling around and have to believe others are as well. It doesn't feel user friendly.

I think the page is too busy. It's not as easy to navigate. I agree on the TD... some answers did warrant it... The quick links, the add for Trulia Pro could all go to the bottom of the screen IMO.

I guess there still a few bugs that they may be still working. I would prefer to see the blogs in a separate list instead of incorporated with the questions.

Thank you for getting rid of the thumbs down. I no longer have to read all the "why did I get a TD?" They overall distracted from conversations. I like the new layout incorporating the blogs and not having to click the "show all" button. At the begining the blogs were largely shameless self endorsements, but now good useful articles and statements are being posted. Well done trulia.

I am glad to report i have found the top voices thanks to some help from Elvis as well. For any of you that were missing them you need to go to the Trulia voices home and look to the right near the bottom. This to was shrunk and hard to see.

Compared to the last iteration.. the type in the text boxes (the answers), especially in the blogs is waaaaay too small. There is way too much space taken up by the ads on the right third of the page, leaving less space for the meat of Trulia Voices.

Sorry... I don't care for the change. Not so much.

I don't like the new layout. It's too constricting. How can I easily find some old questions without scrolling through all of them? There's too much crap on the right side of the page. The thumbs down should make a comeback with some modifications because there are some truly horrible answers on the site.

The old design seemed easier to read and navifgate....although in all fairness...this is my first time on the site. I'm sure I will get used to it! I am glad that Top Voices is a little harder to find. Some folks were abusing it which was frustrating to those of us dedicated to helping consumers on the site. I like the blogs.

I agree that the thumbs down is warranted in some cases and yes if you give it it shouldnt be anonymous. And a reason why should be included. I also miss the top voices, perhaps it should have been done the other way around with weekly first, then monthly then yearly then lifetime. Lifetime shouldnt be first as some good new agents came on and some agents on there were no longer postiong but still way out ahead of everyone, it would be years to achieve that. How about starting new.... I love the blog features. What i miss the most is seperating the newest questions from the recent answered questions as some new answers are on way out of date questions.

you know.. I have to agree. While the thumbs-down was certainly abused, there are some answers that certainly warrant a thumbs down.

Perhaps if you designed it so that it couldn't be anonymous... or required a notation, indicating "why".

Looks great except you took away the option for Thumbs down. I feel there are some questions/comments that warrant negative feedback.
