Yes, I too was rather surprised as to the lack of response to the question.

I have heard rumors of good rental yields coming out of such areas as:

Upstate New York, i.e. Buffalo/Rochester
Detroit and the rest of the rust belt.
Katrina affected parts of Lousiana
Parts of Canada close to the oil sands extraction sites

But, we all know what the internet like is for hype and spin - I was looking for some hard facts and data, or just some other possible areas worthy of further investigation.

I'm surprising that this question didn’t receive any more answers....

Do people in the USA refer to 'rental yields' as a different name?

In very basic terms - It’s simply the amount of money received from yearly rent minus the yearly expenses divided by the purchasing cost of the property.

Yield is based on the investment on the property minus the tax, insurance, mortgage payments, repairs, realtors fees, We have a successful market for Dallas home rentals, Dallas apartment rentals, with close to 40% increase over last year in some areas, due to the foreclosures many families are forced to leave their Dallas homes seek Dallas home rentals, these homes don't last long on the market only a few days with long term tenants they are not seeking to move. Dallas has had many families moving here due to the cost living is lower vs. other equal cities in the United States, Texas was the #1 inbound state for 2007 in moves, YEAH!.... there is tremendous growth still here in Dallas, Happy to assist if you are seeking to invest here in the States especially the Dallas real estate market.
