actually I would say Brian and Michelle are correct. If you want to do it yourself craigslist.org is a good place to start. But, to Michelle's point there is alot to consider before jumping into this. I am not saying you cannot do it yourself but, you just need to make sure you have all the bases covered so that you do not put yourself in a bad position. So weigh all the options and cost of using a property managment company versus you handling everything.
Do you want to rent it yourself or are you looking for a Property Management Company to do it for you. I do property management and the cost is 8% of the monthly rental and, of course, you pay for the advertisements, but I handle all the showings, etc. I put the property on the MLS rentals and on my website, http://www.RichProperties.net. I can also put it on Craigs list and I usually put my rentals on the Charlotte.com site for $55 for 21 days.
Let me know if I can be of service to you. I have several other properties in that basic area of town that I manage.
Craigslist is very effective. This is the least expensive because it doesn't cost you anything to advertise. You could also just put a FOR RENT sign in the yard and I'm sure you'll get plenty of calls. The rental market is very active.
This would really depend on if you want the headaches of finding tenants, dealing with rent collections and calling for repairs or even dealing with the eviction process should it come to that. Real estate laws differ from state to state. But my advice would be to interview some of the Property Management Offices there in your area. Sometime's their fee is based on a percentage of the rents and are knowledgeable of the rental market in that area. You may enjoy knowing that the applicants are being screened that are interested in your property. I hope you find this information helpful and good luck to you.
