Yes. River Club is not one of the de facto "adults only" communities. Ricefields is also a very "kid friendly" area.

Hi Lisa

Most of the communities in Pawleys Island have a mix of retirees, working families with children, and part time residents. The River Club offers many ammenities and is a wonderful community. However, there are others communities in Pawleys that offer ammenities and may have more children. I hope you have taken time to look at other communities and have visited our excellent schools so you can get a better feel for the area. Please let me know if I can assist you in your property search.

Hi Lisa,
Somehow your request dated Apr 2, 2008 for information regarding children in the River Club community in Pawleys Island has landed in my email box today. Since last year until now, the prices in all of Pawleys Island have come down significantly. If you are still looking and not working with an agent at this time, I would be very happy to help you. If you do want some of my help, you can easily contact me just by going into my profile and sending me an email. Look forward to your reply. Thanks.

I know that this question was posted in April of 2008, but I just wanted to make a clarification as to one of the answers given by Kathy Davis. She mentioned that the Ricefields neighborhood has a pool and a REC CENTER. The neighborhood does NOT have a recreation center. The Ricefields does have a pool, and a beautiful nature path walkway to the River with a gazebo. For residents, they have a private area to launch their boats into a canal leading out to the Waccamaw River. The water is tidal. They also have a very active homeowner's association.

Lisa,

I am also considering a home in the Pawleys area. Planning a trip next week. FOr now considering River, and tradition. I want to live on a golf course, and I like the idea of having direct access to beach. I also have kids in middle school and highschool. This would be a vacation home. Any suggestions? How long have been looking in PI? What communities do you prefer? Can you provide any suggestions. I respect the rules of a community, however, I dont want to deal with neighbors who act like "community police".

We rent in River Club and live on cul de sac with "community police". Some folks on the block are friendly to children, others act like they were never children and were born adults! Really have to assess neighbors individually.

I live in Pawleys Island and am NOT a realtor trying to sell you a home. River Club does have some kids, but most of its residents are retirees - not really a family oriented neighborhood. In my opinion the best neighborhood for kids in Pawleys is Ricefields. Not gated like River Club, but much more kids friendly. They also have a pool and rec center (and lots of teenagers). I do not live at Ricefields and have no axe to grind - just know what I know from living and working in the area. Most of the gated communities in Pawleys consist mainly of retirees that moved here from other areas (i.e. Pawleys Plantation (where I live), Heritage Club, & River Club, and Willbrook). They all seem to have pretty strict rules where children are concerned - like not leaving bikes, etc. in the driveways, no basketball hoops, etc. etc. etc. pretty restrictive actually, and they have no problem writing threatening letters if you don't obey all their rules! Hope this information helps - sorry to all you realtors out there wanting to sell this gal a home, but you know what I say is true.

Lisa,
I am a 40+ year resident of the Grand Strand, I have lived in Conway, Georgetown, Pawleys Island and now Murrells Inlet and the beauty of our area is that we have something for everyone. Have you found a home in the River Club you are interested in? I would be happy to show it to you and give you a tour of the area so you can see locations and advantages of the community, and can better judge if it will suit your lifestyle. Give me a call if I can help you in your search and you are not already working with an Agent.

Lisa, the River Club has condominiums, patio type homes and larger custom homes which attract a wide variety of homeowners. I'd be glad to send you information on any homes listed for sale in that community or any nearby. John Sefick Coldwell Banker Chicora
