Seems like a good location near Coolidge Corner and Commonwealth Avenue but wasn't sure about the overall neighborhood, safety, etc.

Hi John,

54 Lawton is considered the edge of Coolidge Corner. The location is desirable because of proximity to restaurants, shopping, Boston University, downtown and T access.

It is a very difficult question to answer without not knowing your specifics and your preferences. Depending on your profile and your needs this location might work for you or might not. Lot of students and professionals live around this street, throndike, comm ave, etc. It also changes building to building. So depending on your preferences and tolerance, it might work for you or not. I would ofcourse guide you differently depending on your answers.

I am sure this question is just the tip of the iceberg. Since you sound like you are new to Brookline - I would suggest when you are closer to buying a property, you should work with an agent who can guide you about the area and other process related questions.

Please don't buy a property based on online feedback. It helps but you shouldn't base such a "big" life decision on this alone. Good Luck with your search!

Great neighborhood. I haven't heard anything about safety issues around Lawton Street and wonder why do you ask. Are you knew to Boston area? ...Usually, when people start looking for a town that has the city conveniences, safe neighborhood, great schools and public transportation they almost always find Brookline to be one of their top choices (if that is within their budget range, of course) and being close to Coolidge Corner has its advantage too.

If you're considering the 1 unit that is on the market there, don't hesitate to ask your agent to feed you with specific neighborhood related information (statistics, happenings, etc.) My clients, especially, if they are not too familiar with the town usually like that as it helps them sort things out efficiently enough not to miss the opportunity they like.

Great street and awesome neighborhood to invest. The Brookline market is one of the few neighborhoods insulated by bad RE markets (feels just a slight pinch from downturn). The Lawton St area specifically because of its location to coolidge corner continues to see growth.

If you are referring to this property, it loos great. Nicely updated 3 bedroom with a covered parking spot, it doesnt seem too over priced - probably some room to negotiate:
