Daisyjune, Other/Just Looking in Atlanta&NY/LI

Hi all! We are a retired couple looking to rent for a while to learn your lovely area. We are flexible on

Asked by Daisyjune, Atlanta&NY/LI Fri Feb 22, 2008

areas north and/or east of Atlanta, suburban or rural. We need --

-- a few acres for privacy

--single level living, not too many stairs (to basement ok.)

-- bit of extra storage, could be garage or outbuilding.

Anyone know of such a place, or a good way to look? We can find lots of houses to rent but not a way to filter the search for acreage.

We have no children or pets. Grandkids 8 & 10 will visit occasionally.

Many thanks!

You may also want to consider Big Canoe which is a about an hour North of Atlanta in the mountains of North Georgia. It is a gated community with 27 holes of golf, 3 lakes, miles of hiking trails, fitness center, and plenty of rentals are also available for both long and short term. Our rental site featuring Big Canoe rentals is http://ibavacationrentals.com and our site featuring Big Canoe real estate is http://ibamountainhomes.com

I have an 7 acre horse farm in Dawsonville with a barn and a few outbuildings. The home is a split level so it does have some steps. It has 3 beds and 2 baths. Also has a pool and a creek that runs through it and it is fully fenced. It also has a riding ring, but unless you have horses it would be of no use to you. It is for sale at $325k or one year lease at $1500/mo.

Repainting interior and exterior and replacing carpet in the next 2 weeks.

Don't rule out Peachtree City. Designated as a Top Ten Place to Live by Money Magazine in '05. It's about 30 minutes south of the ATL airport. Several web links contained in my web reference will enlighten you about Peachtree City and its great lifestyle.

I have a couple of grandparenting questions: when your grandchildren visit, how will they travel to see you? Will they arrive at Hartsfield Jackson Airport, or by automobile?

Ultimately, the next steps can be in any direction - centrally from an area like Chastain Park in the heart of Intown Atlanta, or outward in all directions to the most exurban development on the edges of a gorgeous Georgia lake, or the foothillls of one of our mountain ranges.

Welcome to the Peach State - give us some more specifics and the talented folks at Trulia Voices will be happy to help you with your research.

From there, identify a talented realtor who has a hyper-local focus on the area of the metropolitan area that entices you.

Daisyjune,
Take a look at the BriarRose when you begin your look. The BriarRose Plantation is located 45 minutes east of Atlanta. Great place!!

Hi Daisyjune,
Welcome to Georgia! In your search for the perfect home to live in (after renting), please be aware that Cobb County and Gwinnett County actively solicit the retiree. They have special tax incentives that begin at lower age brackets than other counties. Now about your rental search, Prudential Georgia Realty does have a rental program that can assist you in weeding through the properties that they have in their system that would match as much of the criteria as possible.
