Does anyone know the percentage of foreclosures that are the market?

To the south of Sacramento, the counties of San Joaquin (Stockton) and Stanislaus (Modesto) have 10,922 Residential listings. 1363 are short sales 37 are "foreclosure pending" and 1826 are lender owned Those percentages are SS = 12.5% Lender owned 16.7% Total distressed = 29.5% { # 3,226}

El Dorado, Placer and Yolo counties have 6017 residential listings \ 509 are REO 427 are short sales 31 are "foreclosure pending" - distressed for these 3 counties 16% { # 967 }

Total for these six counties : 4,468 lender owned 3,507 short sales 155 foreclosure pending out of 28,425 MLS listings. Percentages are 15.7% REO 12.3% short sales {28.6% distressed } for a grand total of 8130 distressed properties on MLS.

In addition to these properties there are alway a few foreclosed properties that have not yet been listed on to the MLS as it takes several days after the lender acquires title to the property before they are made available for sale.

34.2% Of MLS Residential listings in Sacramento County are either Lender owned, short sales, or foreclosure pending.
Broken down {literally}
Sac County 11,486 Residential listings (includes Homes condos and small multi-res properties)
2,133 are lender owned = 18.5%
1717 are short sales = 15%
87 are classified as foreclosure pending = 0.7% Statistics as of 5:15 PM October 4th 2007.

In addition to the sites below, title companies have some great info that they can e-mail on a weekly basis that breaks down foreclosures into NOD (Notice of Defaults-3 month mark when owner has not paid mortgage for 3 months), NOT (Notice of Trustee Sale) and % of foreclosed properties by county, zip, city, even neighborhood....the data comes in an easy to comprehend format that is easy to manipulate and format into any report...
