Libby, Home Buyer in Punta Gorda, FL

What are the safest areas to live in Cape Coral.?

Asked by Libby, Punta Gorda, FL Sun Feb 1, 2009

I've been hearing a lot of negative feedback about the crime rate there and we're a little bit concerned to move to the area now.

As other have stated, Cape Coral ranks very well vs. other cities its size in Florida for low crime rates. The latest crime stats (2006) for Florida cites with populations over 100,000 show that Cape Coral was ranked 4th out of 19 Florida Cities.

With approximately 165,000 residents, Cape Coral is over 5x larger than Cumberland and has a more urban feel than a New England town. If you are concerned about security and safety, one option that you may want to consider in Cape Coral is a gated community. Here is an overview of the Cape's gated communities:

The best resource for neighborhood crime is the local police department. they have access to the most current and accurate information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

Hi Lisa,

Cape Coral is one of the safest cities in Florida. If you go the the city's web site and look under the facts and statistics tab you will see the numbers. Cape Coral is broken up by 400 miles of canals that give each neighborhood it's own feel. If you have any further questions or if there is anything else that I can do for you please feel free to call or email.
