What about a turnkey solution for creating individual websites for agent's listings which could feed directly into Trulia's database? It wouldn't be too hard to build a wizard that would automatically register a domain and guide an agent through the process of building the page and then host it afterwards.
I'd also love to see Trulia support OpenID and microformats.
in 2005 I bought an agent X-site for one year from A la mode ; I let it expire and did not renew because the market here was slowing right after I signed up . It came with a lot of pre-written real estate specific articles. However the killer app was not installed, which would have been idx. Search capability through my own site. - Was informed it cost an extra $50 to my mls on top of the $399 (discounted from 599) that the x-site cost. I see ads for web sites from 1 on 1 as low as 1.99 per month and Go Daddy up to 9.99 per month. Along with free sites, free blog sites etc. - I would be willing to pay a small $ for a personal Trulia webpage, & because it does link to a search service. Because my income has been hammered by the sales slowdown, I just can't afford to risk wasting ad money like I did in 2005. . I think a lot of us are like FSBO's we would rather have the cheap website and build it our selves, write our own articlesm than pay for a "full service" x-site. Example of a free webpage on a site below.
Dunno! I would definitely take a serious look at any Trulia offerings. I'm happy with my email, but a Trulia email address MAY have the potential to become a status item (hey Roger, tell Heather this could be a good "Top Contributor" perk)--it could always be forwarded to whichever inbox we prefer. Andy, I also don't understand OpenID or microformats. Is this something I really should know about or is it "uber tech"? Please explain--or not (if I don't need it)... Turnkey websites sound wonderful! But, I'd like to customize with a long list of menu items and widgets; and only pay for the stuff I want. Most turnkey websites marketed for REALTOR specific needs and content are ridiculously priced! Can you do it, Roger (thanks for the photo!)? What other great stuff can you come up with for us? More freebies? Catch you on the blog...
