It really depends on your location! We have pockets that sell within days and others that take longer. On average, you're looking at 60-90 days throughout the Charlotte metro area. Currently we're seeing an interesting trend-a house either sells within a couple of weeks or takes 4-5 months to go. The middle ground seems to be vanishing.

While the average in Charlotte is around 90 days, almost any home can sell within days or last on the market for years. The difference is in the 4 P's: Price, Presentation, Promotion, and the Professional that you hire. The mistake that most sellers make is that they disregard the current buyers in the market by ignoring some or all of the 4 P's and their home is viewed but passed over. Then the seller is stuck waiting for new buyers in come into the market or attempt to lure back the current buyers with incentives and bonuses to the agents.

Interesting answer. I found our market similar. A home either sells very quickly close to asking price or languishes on the market. Getting it priced right makes all the difference.
