What can a family expect to pay for a home within a 30 minute commute of Los Angeles?

Los Angeles is a sprawling city. A 30 minute drive could place you in the San Fernando Valley, multitudes of inland cities or a wide variety of areas to the South, including Long Beach. Many of these areas have great family homes, some even have exceptional school districts. A typical family starter home can still be found in the $500k range on the low side and anywhere upwards of that based on the families income. The Long Beach and Lakewood area's do provide fine family housing and great schools. I would recommend the Lakewood Plaza area of Long Beach where a growing family would be comfortable in a nice sized home, possibly with a pool, in an award winning school district. The Cubberley School is K-8 and is highly desirable. Lakewood Plaza is a 5 minute drive to the beach, is convenient to all area freeways and shopping. The average price of a home in this area is $605k. Here you will find tree lined streets and lovely ranch homes on good sized lots all within close proximity of the fabulous El Dorado Regional Park, 815 acres of sheer enjoyment and one of the largest parks in Southern California. The park has a really nice Nature Center, Tennis Center, 18 hole golf course, archery, playgrounds, picnic areas, model airflying area, model sailboat area and more. Get your team together and head to either the baseball, softball or soccer, basketball, volleyball or tennis courts. There is even a roller hockey court and a skate park. The park provides train rides, pony rides, hay rides and a petting zoo. A great place for a family to have many memorable moments. I am including a link with information on this great family area.

Many cities in the South bay are within a 30 minute commute.. El Segundo, Manhattan Beach and North Redodno.. Our prices are slightly higher then those in Long Beach.. You might find a 2 bedroom condo/townhome in El Segundo or Redondo under $600,000 but not in Manhattan Beach.. One of the nice things about the beach cities is that they each have their won school districts. Most of the schools within each district are California Distinguished Schools.

Long Beach is within the 30 minutes commute of Los Angeles. So is Lakewood which also has great family neighborhoods.
There are today 1149 homes for sale in Long Beach ranging from $340,000 to $9,950,000. Long Beach is a large city with a diversity of neighborhoods. Some neighborhoods border the ocean, the beach or the canals on the east. Downtown is located in southwest portion of the city, closer to the harbor. Most of the homes were originally built in the early 1900's and none of them look alike. As Long Beach developed and more people moved in, new residential neighborhoods with more cookie-cutter homes were build to accommodate the influx during and after WWII. So Long Beach is now a multitude of neighborhoods which offer different charms and personalities. A family moving to a 3 bedroom/2 bath home would in average moved to a 1,500 sq. ft. home that would cost around $625.000. But it could be $330,000 or $1,450,000.
