I'm sure there are good local inspection companies but I've had good experiences with some of the larger ones and smaller ones alike, it depends how soon you need the results and report. Smaller companies tend to outsource certain jobs like the termite inspection where some of the larger firms have inspectors certified in termite and other pest detection as well.
A few larger companies that I've had good experiences with in the past.
American Home Inspection Services
Please do your own due diligence when choosing an inspection company, make sure the home inspector and or inspection company is LICENSED!!!
In New Jersey home inspectors must be licensed and therefore you can check to ensure they are licensed inspectors and not someone who just took a home study course by checking the link below.
You can check here: http://www.state.nj.us/cgi-bin/consumeraffairs/search/search
I know because they are licensed doesn't mean they are competent but it's a good way of discounting many of those who could not even get the license...
Do yourself a favor, show up to the home inspection and talk to the inspector, not like a worry ward.
Ask the inspector if the things he points out are serious or just things to look out for or....?
Take the inspection results with a grain of salt, they are loaded with disclaimers...
