I agree with Doug about the East side of Modesto being more desirable. Although there are very cute and clean neighborhoods scattered all around Modesto. It really depends on what type of house you are looking for newer or older. The great thing about Modesto is it only takes 15 minutes to get across town. If you have any questions just send me an email.

Susan, I am not a real estate pro, just a homeowner, but born in Modesto many years ago, I do know my way around town. Some of the more desirable areas are on the Eastside of Modesto. Sometimes school districts can shed light. I live in the Lakewood School District, reportedly one of the best in a 5 county area. Also, Sonoma and Rose Avenue schools are good. There are not many homes for sale in these area as most are owned by longtime residents. DH

Hi Susan,

I suppose the best place for you depends on what you enjoy doing. Modesto is not as diverse in its activities as the bay area, but there are several points of interest such as shopping, golf, and dining. Also, what you desire in a home as far as age, size, and amenities will determine your location. There are also several smaller towns within the area that may fit your needs. If you are familiar with the area, searching for specific amenities in the areas you would like to live in would be the best way to go about finding a home. If you are not familiar with the area, I would suggest visiting and exploring to find the areas you like. As a Realtor, we cannot show favor or discrimination to a certain area so I cannot say where the "decent parts" are for you. If you are concerned with crime, a call to the Modesto Police will give you an idea of crime statistics for different neighborhoods.

Thank you for your question and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
