"Note: SSI"????

Asked by Erin, 45701 Thu Jan 29, 2009

We are first-time home buyers and have seen the phrase "Note: SSI" attached to several of the listings we looked at. What exactly does that mean for a buyer? Thanks!

Thank you for your question Erin,
SSI are special showing instructions to the fellow member Realtors of the local MLS (Multiple Listing Service) that reflect the requests of the Listing Agents clients such as: day sleeper do not call or show before 11 AM, do not let cats out of basement, dog in cage in garage and so on. SSI instructions are meant as information to the showing agent to insure a good showing experience for both the buyer and seller.

SSI refers to Special Showing Instructions... it is more for the showing Realtors information, such as day sleeper, or no showings on weekends. Any other questions, please let me know.

Erin,

Special Showing Instructions. When Realtors show homes the homeowners are notified...in some cases homeowners have dogs, or cats, or something that they want the Realtor to know before they enter their home. Therefore the "Note: SSI"

I am not a part of the association in Normal. I would locate a realtor in the area to answer your question. In this market, a good realtor can help negotiate a great deal for you and answer your specific questions. If you need a reference, I could help you. susan@k3metro.com
