Where are the safest places to live in Newport News in a single family home? Surrounding areas any safer?

I'm planning to move to Newport News next year. I would like to live as close as possible to Middle Ground Road.

You can get the crime stats by going to the Law Enforcement websites in each of the areas you are interested in. There are wonderful neighborhoods throughout Hampton Roads and what is "good" to some may not be to others. It truly is up to each individual person. I always advise potential buyers to visit areas at different times of the day and I encourage them to knock on doors and ask questions that are on your mind. Neighbors have no problem dishing on their neighborhoods.

No the home has a tax assessment of $165,00 plus additions & many upgrades as well. Hardly $100,000 profit. Plus many homes in the area increase about $20,000 per year. I am selling in 2008.

Lake Park is the best! It is only 10 minutes from Middle Ground. And I think there are a couple houses for sale in there now around $200,000. Try 4 Wedgewood Drive North.

I would honestly recommend you contact the local police department and they will be able to provide you with crime stats. I would hate to tell you that an area is safe and God forbid something happens in that area. I wish you well. I placed the website information below.

Don't forget Riverside-- beautiful neighborhood of older homes with a community beach on the James River. Biking distance to Mariner's Museum Park and well- thought of schools. Prices range from $239,900- $2.1 Million. ooo-la-la!

Hello Ron:

The following neighborhoods are all within a 2-3 mile radius of Middle Ground Rd:

Deer Park Commons
Oyster Point
Willow Green
Westview Lakes
Nantucket Condos
Harperville
Beechlake Estates
Warwick Villas
Camelot Village
Red Bud Run
Kiln Creek
Bernard Village
Spring Trace
The Point @ City Center
Beaconsdale
The Greenlands
Port Warwick.... and many more I'm sure!

In terms of which are safer: I would definitely check the local crime stats and I also strongly agree with Anne---Visiting neighborhoods at different times of the day can be invaluable! Good luck with the property hunt!

Matthew,
This is your listing, or you're the homeowner trying to make 100K profit. You should have sold in 2005.
