This depends entirely of what the contingency is. Usually, for the norm, most sales agreements ARE written with contingencies. They could be contingent on a number of reasons.

Mortgage, Inspection(s), sale of a current home, purchase of home, any for any other reason in which the parties agree to.

If you have an agent you are working with, and you really should, they can explain the whole prosess.

Hope that helps,

Chris. The answer is maybe. I recently had a contingent contact accepted by the seller that was contingent upon the sale and settlement of the buyers current home. It took a while for the contingencies to be removed but we did settle. Every contract has the normal contingencies, but it is up to the seller to determine whether they are acceptable. Every real estate transaction has its own nuances so there is no set answer. But if you are asking a seller to remove a property from being actively marketed then there has to be some consideration on the buyers' part to make the offer attractive enough to stop actively selling the property. If you need a more specific answer please contact me, but please remember I am not representing you or the seller with respect to this specific property. Thanks, Don. Don@DonRoth.com
