Jeffery below is correct, but also keep in mind that for some the furniture and personal items can be distracting. When I show some clients homes, they wonder what is hidden behind or under the furniture. Others, can't picture themselves living in a room because the decor is not to their liking. My point is while you are living there stage it nicely, but don't fret if you need to take your furniture with you once you move.
A home always looks larger and more attractive when photographed nicely furnished and clean. If empty it does not reflect a living space, but rather just a space. This also gives a prospective tenant something to judge size by.
