Thanks a lot for all of your insights. I spent more time around the property and I do like the location.
It seems to be far enough from 237, central, and 85, that I dont hear the noise.
Yes... no yard :(. I would have to rely on outsourced yards (e.g. Landels elementary school
and stevens creek trail). That neighborhood, old mountain view, in between calderon and
castro seems to be pretty pedestrian friendly. I have seen young couples, mothers with
strollers, and average folk walking about in the evening.
In Mtn View, the other option in the roughly high 8s to mid 9s range seems to be a house in the Monta
Loma neighborhood. Monta Loma Elementary and Landels seem to be about the same
quality. Anything with Bubb or Huff is too pricey!
It should holds its value fairly well because: (1) It's new - Many buyers today want "new" properties, (2) pretty good location relative to downtown Mountain View and Castro street, (3) floorplans are O.K..
It won't hold its value that well because... (1) It's new - newer construction tends to not be as good as older homes (my opinion). Also, new construction becomes old construction real quick, (2) no real yard (I hope you like the inside alot), (3) traffic noise from surrounding 85/central expressway, (4) Not so great k-8 schools.
I think the real question you need to ask yourself is "what are your other options in the same price range?" Only you can decide!
