Sara,
Here are two places to check for community information such as enviornment, schools, crime etc. You might compare these with the other great sites & information that were recommended.

University Heights is an AMAZING place to live. I know this because I live here. Problem with University Heights is that no one wants to sell there because the neighborhood is nice, however, there are a few properties that hit the market. The crime is low as well (please try http://mapping.arjis.org/main.aspx for a crime stat map).

As far as schools go, its probably best to do your own research http://school-ratings.com/. Keep in mind that you may or may not agree on how these schools are graded, however these rankings will give you a good idea of what you are looking at.

Dear Sara,

You can visit Automated Regional Justice Information Systems (Arjis), which is the San Diego Regional Crime map for the region. It is a very useful tool in getting an overview of the different neighborhoods and additional information. I have provide the link to their website below:

http://mapping.arjis.org/

On my blog I have posted an article and link to the top San Diego public schools, that link is provided below for you.

I hope that this helps.

Best regards, Jeff

Hi Sara,

Here is a direct link to San Diego's Unified School District http://www.sandi.net/ I would start there and then as the other agents recommended contact the local police department in that area for additional information.

If you need assistance locating a home in University Heights I'd be happy to help. Please contact me direct or via my website.

Sincerely,
Katrina Hamilton

Sara,
The issue of neighborhood safety is best addressed bu the local police department or county sheriff's department. They have access to the most accurate and current information and are generally very willing to be helpful.
