Sometimes buyers get frustrated waiting for the banks long reponse time and do not see it through to closing. You might have your agent call the listing agent to check on the status of the sale.
If you don't have an agent you are working with, I would recommend a full time agent, especially one with experience in the short sale process should you be interested in making an offer on this kind of property. As a buyer you need to be aware of the additional costs you could be asked to pay.
