Alejandra, Home Buyer in White Plains, NY

Which are the best neighborhoods/areas for people in their mid 20's in the greater Miami area?

Asked by Alejandra, White Plains, NY Wed May 14, 2008

My boyfriend and I are looking to relocate from NY to the area, we are both in our mid 20's in law school. Any recommendations? Our budget is limited, safety is a must! Proximity to the beach is a huge plus.

I would highly recommend Coconut Grove. Coconut Grove offers everything a young professional could want. We have many cafes, boutiques, jogging paths and evening hot spots such as Nikki Beach and Greenstreet Cafe. CocoWalk, our village center, is getting a face lift with a brand new movie theatre, piano bar, and a new Lucky Strike Bowling Alley. In case you haven't been to Lucky Strike before, it is an unbelievable bowling alley complete with bar and restaraunt.
Right now Coconut Grove has some unbelievable deals. You can get a great condo or townhouse within walking distance to the center of the Grove. If you are interested in our market, visit my blog at http://www.TheRealEstateCoconut.com. Or shoot me an email and I'd be happy to send you some properties that would best fit your needs.

Aventura is a great place to live. Located in the north eastern portion of Miami-Dade County this trendy neighborhood has great shops, new neighborhoods, parks, golf courses, and tons of restaurants. Aventura is located around Biscayne Boulevard, including Miami Gardens Drive, Ives Dairy Road, and Country Club Drive Circle. In the heart of Aventura you'll find the Aventura Mall with Macy's, Bloomingdales, Nordstom and an abundance of stores. Excellent dinning is not exception in Aventura; restaurants like Morton's, The Cheescake Factory, PF Changs, Ivy's and many more are available to residents and visitors. There are also wonderful communities to live in Aventura: Turnberry Isle was one of the first developments and it is still a 5 star place to live: with it's private golf course, resort and spa. Other places to live in Aventura include 3030 Aventura, Alaqua, Artech, Atlantic One, Atrium Aventura, Aventura Marina, Bella Mare, EastSide, Hamptons South, Hidden Bay, La Vogue, Marina Grande, Mystic Point, Park Central Aventura, Peninsula, Peninsula Two, Porto Vita, Skylofts, Terzetto At Aventura, The Atrium, The Parc, The Point, The Venture, Turnberry On The Green, Turnberry Village, and Uptown Marina Loft. And the rents at some of these places are very reasonable for a couple who's on a budget. Please feel free to give me a call at 305-788-6643. If you rent through me I will give you a $50 gas card upon move in.

Good morning Alejandra. I see here that both of you are in law school. Depending on the school you are transferring to, we could give you an idea of what are places for you and your boyfriend should look at. My wife is taking the BAR in February so we know more or less the process and the stress of law school. If you are going to UM, I would recommend the Coral Gables Miracle Mile area, Coconut Grove, or the Brickell/Downtown area. I think you will find everything you need. Living near the metro will be easier since the metro stops in front of the school. If you are planning on going to FIU, I will recommend Kendall, Doral or West Coral Gables. If you are going to FIU and your home is in the Gables, you will go against traffic which is very convenient. Coral Gables, Coconut Grove are minutes from the beaches. Remember you will need a car in Miami. We don't have a good transportation system like New York. But they are working on it. I hope this information helps. Visit my website for more information.

It depends. If you are going to continue your studies in Miami, then the proximity to the school will always be important.
Taking into account your budget, the safety factor and the proximity to the beach, I will suggest the area west of US 1 from the end of I 95 to sunset street.
It is a very central area in town and it is not far from the beach. The roads area is just minutes from Key Biscayne Beaches or South Beach.
Pricing for rentals in that area vary according to the size or type of property. Still a $1000 a month will get you a nice 1/1.

There are many safe neighborhoods in "Greater Miami" ~ close to or near the beach would be my prefernce too! On a limited budget.. it's not likely that the home or apartment will be ideal.

There are many options in South Beach, North Beach & Sunny Isles Beach that are affordable and the beach would be just a block or two away.

South Beach sounds like it would be a good fit and is very affordable. There are outdoor restaurants, Lincoln Mall and lots to do or just relax on the Beach. Rentals are everywhere. Call me if I can send you some-Pam-EWM Realtors-305-216-5864

Are you looking to buy or to rent? What is your budget? The closer to the beach, the more expensive it is.
Where will you be working? Will you want to commute? There are many questions you need to answer before you make a major home decision. I would be able to help you more with more information.
There are many places to live that would meet your lifestyle.
