The most important qualities are competence, integrity and trust. In the interview process, I ask questions about previous work, skills and training and how that may relate to the job of building a new small business (which is what real estate is), how challenges were handled, what their level of risk taking is (looking for courage to do new things), and what their sphere of influence looks like. The agents that do well are committed to making the business work and do the work required each and every day. The key is to see your business as a business and not a job; a really good book to read is THE E-MYTH by Michael Gerber. At the same time, there needs to be a fun element with the clients and in your office. Ours is a great business if you do it right and then you will benefit from the financial rewards that come with success.
