Bethesda vs NW DC Schools

Asked by Kt, Washington, DC Wed May 13, 2009

Which Schools are better? The ones in Bethesda or the ones in NW DC? In particular, if there were two identical houses on each side of Western Ave around Friendship Heights which one should I choose if my concern was the school district?

Hi Kt,
Check out http://www.greatschools.net/ to see what other parents have to say. Also check out http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/ and http://www.k12.dc.us/ for school stats. As agents we aren't allowed to comment on schools and what is best, good, worst, etc. It is just too subjective. What one person thinks is good another thinks is bad. I will say that have have moved families (several times) right over the Western line to Mont. Co. to be in those schools.
Best of luck,

Hi Kt,
You can actually go on to http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov and go under Schools, and then under School locator. You can then plug in a prospective property address and it will bring up all the stats in that school district. You can also go to http://www.bethesdamagazine.com for some great reviews on private schools. The Montgomery County Public School system ratings are very high compared to NW Washington, DC. There are, however, some great private schools in both DC and Montgomery County, MD.

Since I have lived in the area for 50+ years, I can answer any other questions that you may have.

:-)
