Now seems the wrong time to be asking that question. Are you going to return the home to the seller if you determine it is not a good investment?

Is it an investment or your home?
If it is your home, as long as you can afford the mortgage you made a very good move. Be happy and don't worry about the feeling of buyer's remorse. It happens to everyone especially first time buyers. You are in a great area, get to know it and your neighbors.

As Jim notes, nobody can predict the future -- one large earthquake can send things into a tailspin without warning. However, Bernal is 'hip and happening!'. I'm working with a few buyers that are looking there right now. In our experience, each of the well-priced and well-presented homes sold quickly with multiple offers. A good indicator that there's definitely demand for the area and that you've made a wise investment. And your proximity to the Cortland Ave commerical area makes it all the more attractive. Congratulations!

While it's impossible to predict the future, my opinion is that you've just made one of the better investments in San Francisco at the moment. Having literally just arrived at my computer from touring open houses there, I really think that it's a great neighborhood and this is a great time to buy.

Congratulations!
