Condos in Old Mountain View - myth or reality?

Are there any condo developments within walking distance to Castro Street? It seems like everything is a single family home...

The answer to your question is Yes.

However, is it worth it? I personally think that the condos/townhouses downtown are way, way overpriced. $900k for a 2 bedroom, $1.149 million for a 3 bedroom? I can't imagine paying that price while sharing walls (and sometimes ceilings).

There are plenty of options for condo or Townhome communities in downtown Mountain View.

I took the liberty of creating a search for you for active townhome listings a quarter mile from downtown Mountain View. Currently there is only one unit available on Bryant Street, just one block away.

I would check the ones on Bryant and Dana.
Cypress Point is doable but is located ont eh other side of Central.
There are also single family homes on small lots right in downtown that you can buy for under $1,000,000.
A small house on Velarde which is a great street just sold for $830,000.

There are also condos and townhomes on Centre St at Calderon that are very close to Castro. If you go east of Central there are large developments at Cypress Point Lakes and Cypress Point Woods and a longer walk, but still do able, is the condo complex at 500 Willow which is at the corner of Moffet and Middlefield.

Currently there are 4 condo/townhomes listings in the downtown Mountain View district (Area 207). Your definition of walking distance may vary from others, so I'll leave that to your discretion. There are developments within a couple of blocks of Castro Street that have had sales in the past year (Bryant, Dana, View) that cover a wide range of specification and price.
