Help the community by answering this question:

Becky Boomsma - do the other towns you mention really have the same feel as Ridgefield? I live in NYC and looking in Bergen. Just drove around all day and felt like Ridgefield had a great feel. That being said, I wasn't sure if I missed the downtowns of the other towns. What towns are closest in feel to the downtown of Ridgefield?

Thanks in advance,

There is a wonderful home that is newly for sail..... Haworth NJ. Below is an e-mail I have out about it. Open house this Sunday!!!

Hello everyone, I wanted to pass on details about a brand new home my girlfriend's father - owner of BG Builders in Haworth, NJ - just completed. His company specializes in the construction of large, family style Colonial homes. The house JUST went on the market this week! There is an open house THIS SUNDAY, May 18th, starting at noon umtil 3pm. If you are in the market for a new home or want to see it, please drop by. PLEASE forward this to anyone you may know in Bergen County, or anyone else who is in the market for a new home. I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to write me for details. Below is a link to the Real Estate Agent's listing and a description. The link has the full description as well as 10+ photos.

Real Estate Agent: Mimi Weisinger @ Friedberg Properties; 201-650-2767.

Hi Linda ---
In addition to the areas mentioned --- Mahwah --- was just voted as the BEST PLACE to live in Bergen County because of low taxes, great schools, real estate value for the $ and great town amenities. Nearby Oakland also has tremendous value for the money ( and Franklin Lakes goes to the same HS as Oakland). Northwest Bergen County offers a lot of options. Visit my blog at to review area information and stats.

Then, write a list of what is important to you and your family as far as priorities. ( Low taxes, great schools, rec sports, close to NYC ) because --- some things are personal as far as what you want from the location of your home. Then, call someone who lives and works in the area because in addition to the facts and figures --- they will know the area teachers, school administrators --- even restaurant owners --- by name!

The NW Bergen County area offers a selection of great towns!

Hi Linda,

You really can't go wrong with any of the towns around Ridgewood. If you'd like a town that has a "main street village" ambiance, look into Glen Rock, Ramsey, Allendale, Wyckoff, and Oakland,. Glen Rock, Ramsey, and Allendale have train stations and all of the towns have high quality restaurants, stores, and services. These towns are within minutes of Ridgewood and within a 45 minute commute to New York City and Newark Airport. Oakland has express bus service to NYC. The schools in these towns are all highly ranked, many have after school programs, and town recreation programs are wonderful. You can find town and school information on my website, , or for more detailed school information with readily accessible test scores, link to . Rents will vary based on the square footage, number of bedrooms, baths, lot size, age, condition, and location of the home. Prices will vary, so look at several properties to get a good indication of the value. If i can assist you in any way, please feel free to contact me via my website, above. Good luck!

Ridgewood is a wonderful community to live in, it has the finest schools, very urban, with so many restaurants you would have a difficult time deciding. For children, Ridgewood has an outdoor lake for swimming and a Y for indoor activities, a movie theater which features 4 different films at one time.
Ice cream shops, book shops, boutiques, you name it Ridgewood has it. If you go to you will get information on the area as well.
If I can help further, please call me at RE/MAX, Wyckoff NJ 201-891-8858 x331

It's a terrific area. I've lived in Ridgewood for the past 11 years and manage a local Coldwell Banker office. When I first moved here 11 years ago I also rented in Ridgewood and was lucky enough to find a part of town that I loved and I ultimately bought there. You can check out my website at for links to information on local towns & schools.

In terms of towns, a lot is going to depend on what your needs are. Do you need to commute to NYC. Do you prefer bus or train or driving. Do you have school-aged children. Do you prefer a town with a big downtown or a small town feel. If you give me some more details I'd be happy to help direct you to some towns that might meet you needs.

Good luck with your move. Are you coming from out of state? Please let me know. I would love to show you Ridgewood, and the surrounding towns. There are many great places to live in that area. Your decision should rest on your price range, what you want in a house, and what you want your town to have. Please contact me through my website and we can talk.

I would be happy to help you locate a rental in Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Fair Lawn, etc. Bergen County has 70 towns, most with excellent schools and services. Give me a call (my phone number is on my webpage) and let me know your requirements -- size, price, timing, etc.
