Hi Tee-

I had worked for a Wall St. Company for years, and from East Brunswick where I live, it was a 50 minute bus ride to downtown Manhattan. The Mid-town trip is have heard is about 70 minutes. It depends on what you are talking about "uptown". Anywhere in this area, is going to be about 90 minutes. Red Bank is probably 2 hour.. plus.

What is your motivation for buying in East Brunswick? if it is the school system, then the commute is worth it.

Red Bank rocks. I moved here from East Brunswick and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. If possible, give it consideration. You can commute by train or bus. If you are headed far uptown, ferry boat might not be your best bet. By train or bus, it should be about an hour.

I have several past clients who have purchased in East Brunswick and take the commute. They do it in about 1 hour 15 minutes, though it depends where in Uptown you are going. You generally have two options. You can either take an express bus from behind Sam's Club, or pick up a train direct into Penn Station from New Brunswick. It is a bit of a hike, but the area is great!

I'm thinking your talking around almost 2 hrs, may be a bit too much why don't you look for an area that is closer? you can also do a mapquest. When I used to work in NYC I Lived in Nutley it would take me about 45 minutes.
