If you mean this site in particular, I think one of the best ways is to list your home on postlets.com. It syndicates to trulia. I actually had an increase in inquiries after I upgraded to their plus version. If you decide on going the FSBO route, you may wish to read the thread attached to the link below. It is a bit more coherent if you do start with the first post at the bottom on it.
To answer your question, yes it is possible. Is it advisable to go the FSBO route? As an individual who sold 3 houses privately before becoming a Realtor, my answer would be a reserved yes. I realize now that I could have done much better with a good Realtor. But if you want to go the FSBO route, please do yourself a favor: give a 3% co-broke to any realtor who will bring you a buyer. Otherwise, your chances are not very good.
You want to net as much as possible, right? So you should know that when owners sell without professional representation, 5% of the time they sell to someone they know, 5% of the time to someone they don't know, and 86% of the time they list their home with a Realtor.
So my recommendations are:
1. Try to sell it yourself. Bear in mind that homes sold by owners without professional representation sell for 15% LESS THAN those sold by Realtors.
2. Interview three Realtors, ask them for an Estimate of Seller's Net Proceeds. You run the numbers. If you are unable to sell on your own, then you have a back up plan.
Ask your friends, family members, and business associates for a referral. If you need a referral, contact me via my Trulia profile and I will find you a top Realtor in your area to help you.
