Deals around $100. SF or less should be able to be found in the area.

Buying a home based soley on price per square foot leaves out a lot of variables. For instance, you have the costs of the lot and a two story home (usually with more square footage) will price out lower on square footage because generally a single story and two story home can be built on the same footprint. Also, it also depends "what is within the walls". A Ford (car) and a Rolls Royce carry the same amoutn of people, have four wheels, a steering wheel, etc but that is about where the simularity ends - along with price.

Susan,
Let me know if you need any more help. With all do respect to the recent reply, construction under $100/sf in most metro areas leaves a lot to be desired. Remember, you often get what you pay for. Don't over pay, but also do not over buy.

Susan,
The SOLD listings from Jan 1st 2008 to present 4/11/2008 is a bit different. I found that the Average price per sq ft is $133.00 That is about 95% off of the ASKING price per sq ft. This information was culled from the 58 sold listings in the MLS from Jan 01,2008 to April 11, 2008.
Again I hope you find this useful,
Rick

Susan,
Difficult to answer the question the way you asked. SF costs for existing homes always range. For example, there are very nice homes in Hunter' Creek with SF of 2,788 going for $275,000. Just done the street is a house with 1,974 SF going for $249,900. So you r SF cost range from $98 to $124.
Tell me what you are looking for, your budget and any other information and we can help you locate it.
