Yes you can get insurance on the island. Your rate can vary depending on what you own, an elevated home, a ground level home, or a home that is brand new or built in the 60's. On average all of your insurance can average anywhere between 3000-5500 a year for all insurances, some homes will be the exception and may be higher. I like to use BBT ( Oswald Trippe and Company) or Greater Florida Insurance as well. Both can be googled. Hope this helps you.

Yes, there is no problem getting insurance on the island. One of my favorite agents is Beth at Mixon Insurance, their number is 941-778-2253. Many of my clients have worked with Beth and are very satisfied with her knowledge and their results.

Hi Mike, yes you can get insurance even on Anna Maria Island (a barrier island). Homowners (fire & Theft), wind and flood for a single family home is about $5,500/year for all three. All flood insurance is through FEMA and just about all wind is through Citizens (which is through the Styate of Florida). An insurance broker on the island to call is Oswald Trippe & Co - BB&T at 941-778-2206

I know this is a bit of a late answer but I want to help with the potential for future questions regarding Anna Maria Island property insurance. Firstly there has not been an issue with Anna Maria Island property owners finding liability, flood and wind insurance for their property. The first important step is to understand the entire island of Anna Maria is in a flood zone so if you plan to have a mortgage your bank will require flood insurance. Flood insurance can vary widely based on the living level of the property. If a living level is above about 4 feet your flood insurance will be about $1000 or less per year. If your living level is ground level then flood insurance will be significantly higher, 2-3X. Wind insurance cost can vary based on the roof structure and that cost is around $2500 per year. So, while most in the nation do not worry about wind and flood our total insurance package for an average home is about $5000 but of course this can vary a great deal and would suggest contacting a local Anna Maria Island insurance agent which I would be happy to suggest.

I own a villa (est $330000) appx 1350 sq. ft. on one of the key islands Longboat Key just down from Anna Maria Island, FL, that does require flood insurance. While it is a condo association - the association handles insurance on the shell of the building - we cover the rest. I have wind, flood and hazard and all three together cost $1700. I don't find that outrageous. Depends on the costs of the home and where it is located.

It's possible but expensive. My brother in law lives there and his regular property insurance is almost $10,000 per year. He is not waterfront and has a very basic home. He does not carry flood insurance although in my opinion he should.

All insurance policies have limitations and exclusions.

Insurance on Ana Marie Island is only available from Citizens Insurance which is state run.

In my part of the state we pay "normal" rates.
