Home Buying in Newark>Question Details

Corona, Home Buyer in Buffalo, NY

HI! We have been living in Forest Hills of Queens county in NY for past 5 years now.

Asked by Corona, Buffalo, NY Sat Apr 5, 2008

Within the last 4 years, our family has increased from 2 to 4 members. Now, we want to make a move from the apartment to a single family home where our girls can run around. We looked around in westchester and long island, but weren't too happy. A few of our friends moved to NJ and one family just bought a home in Millburn. Can anyone give us insight on NJ towns near NYC which has great school system, actitivity classes for the kids, shopping centers, safe, family friendly area and easy commute to the city. We are looking around in the range 600k-750K for a 4 bedroom house.

There are many towns that would suit your needs located along Rt.3 & Rt. 46 which are direct routes from the Linclon Tunnel from NYC. As stated Nutley has a great school system & as you trave WEST along Rt 3 to RT 46, towns such as Little Falls, Montclair, Fairfield, Wayne & more are available to you. Give me a call & I will be glad to setup E-mail information to be sent directly to you. View my website for more information.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I work along the Route 78 corridor from Millburn out to Clinton. Route 78 allows a straight driving route into the city. There are several trains lines to choose from including the Peapack Gladstone line, the Raritan Valley Line and the Morrsisown line. Buses are also available throughout the region. Lastly you can drive to Newark , Jersey City, Hoboken and then take the PATH train in. From Millbunr you are looking at 40 minutes at best to get into the city and from a town like Basking Ridge a little over an hour.
The towns of Summit, New Providence, Berkeley Heights, Gillette, Stirling, Millington, Watchung, Warren, Mountainside, Madison, Chatham, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Westfield are all in this area and all fit the criteria you are looking for. If you want a refined list of four bedroom homes(no busy street, power lines, flood zones, etc.) please contact me at my website and I will be glad to provide it.
Jersey is a great place to live so wherever you end up I am dsure you will like it. Good luck!

As you can see, there is no lack of great advice from experienced realtors like myself! Part of your decision is what kind of commute you need, to midtown or to downtown/Wall St. area, as well as what kind of housing draws you both... there are many communities with great rec programs for kids and very good school systems. I work throughout Bergen County and can show you a number of homes that fit your criteria everywhere from Glen Rock to Fair Lawn, Teaneck to Demarest, Hillsdale to Ramsey. Call or email me, and let's get started!

River Vale, Montvale,Woodcliff Lake, Hillsdale,Emerson, Oradell and a few others offer good schools and wonderful quality of life. Hi Corona,

There are many areas that would meet your needs, including Westfield, Scotch Plains, Fanwood, Ridgewood, Madison, Chatham, Tenafly, and Montclair. Millburn and Summit are additional options, but very pricey. If you would like a sample pack of closed sales from each of these towns to see how far your money will go, just click on my photo and send me an e-mail. I'll get it right out. Westfield and Ridgewood are well known for their excellent schools. However, all the communities I just listed have very good schools also. There are also some other towns to consider, but it depends upon how close you want to be to NYC, and exactly where where you are commuting to.

If I can be of help, I am an appraiser as well as a Realtor, just let me know. Good luck. You're going to love it here.
