Trulia is not a real estate brokerage, they post what is handed to them, it is up to the people placing their information, to check and proof read all information posted on any search engin.

When information shown by Trulia and similar sites is incorrect, it is because the data sources they are pulling from don't have clean data. For example, if your city's name exists in more than one County in CA, Trulia and others will pull schools data from both locations, even if you're trying to search by zip code. As a result, the system will show your local schools as well as others that aren't in your local area.

I've reported this to various data aggregators, and haven't received a response back yet. Seems they're searching more by city name than by zip code, and thus things get all convoluted.

Do report your situation to Trulia to see if they can get it corrected for you. It may be that they don't have enough control over the data to make the change, but at least they can investigate.

Sue,
Depending on who entered the listing on Trulia, it might be possible to contact the agent and have them either edit or delete and re-enter the listing.
Certain things such as schools are pulled from the internet and there is not much that can be done, but a fair amount of information is user added.

I hope this helps!

Often the information from places like trulia, zillow and the like are pulling their information ultimately from tax records (whice I've found are often not accurate). In this case you can make a determination- get the changes made at the county level (and risk your taxes being changed to match the growth of your asset) and then have trulia recheck or leave it and just list it and make note on listing for buyers to verify what appears to be wrong information on the tax records.

Hi Sue,

You can e-mail Trulia and provide, what you know, is the right info. As far as I know, these information published by most websites come from Dataquick so if there is a misunderstanding and you are right, I don't think Trulia will deny your request.
Best,

Laarni
