Yes, you can look up at the Town Hall who owns a property and who hold the mortgage on it. But once you get the bank name, its tough to get the right person on the phone.

City hall would have this info as well as the current mailing address for the bank (the mailing address may just be for the tax bills, but its a step in the right direction) Check with the assessors office first.

Yes, if the house is indeed owned by a bank. If the home is listed for sale, contact the listing agent.

the first place to look is visionappraisal.com. if the town or city doesn't use them, then just go to the town's website. virtually all towns have there land records online.

town hall will have this information - if the bank actually filed it. It's pretty hard to tell for sure, but a good place to start is the tax assessor's office in your town hall.

The best way is to contact your favorite real estate professional. They are are happy ot help and are trained to find these answers for you and can help with the steps to follow should you choose to pursue a purchase.

In California you would go to the recorder's office to do a search of the property records. If the property is listed for sale, you could simply contact the listing agent as well. Getting someone at the bank to talk to you is another matter!
