Be mindful of the extra expense of the taxes, but don't let it dicate to you. If other expenses are equal, this annual payment disparity in taxes will eat into the money you save, in short order, but iff you need to be near the canal for commuting or other reasons, Sandwich should remain high on your list.
Opinion: the beaches in Brewster and Dennis are better.
Good luck with your search.

If you like Brewster and East Dennis to be near the Bay, those towns have about the same number of homes for sale in the Cape and Islands Multiple Listing Service (CCI MLS) that have three bedrooms and are offered at/below $350,000 as there are in East Sandwich. On that basis, you might consider working with an agent who can help you find your home in a place you like before you venture into another location. I'd be pleased to work with you in that regard.

The primary reason for low prices in Sandwich is that the tax rate is the highest on Cape Cod. With the current economic conditions, a lot of sellers can't afford the high tax rate and need to sell their homes. As a result, you have a large supply of inventory -simple economics really.
