Agreed with both. It is, ,foremost, the ground rule of Trulia. Can you imagine all agents come on every local question and ask people to contact them? I'd be totally turned off.

If we strive to give quality answers, I am sure people / realtor will contact the real estate pro after reading all those answers by the pro. .

However, every once in a while, when the consumer actually ask for contact information, or due the specific nature of the question, the consumer should contact the real estate pro to get the answer. However, those are far and few in between.

Jed- I agree with Pam below. I personally just try to answer the question and leave it at that. However, if the answer could be more complex or could possibly be answered on a more personal level, I might just leave one source of contact info at the bottom, usually an email. without any mention, implicit or otherwise, of solicitation for business. I just leave it up to the Questionare to decide if my answer warrants further contact outside Trulia. Just my 2 cents worth.

It is my understanding the Trulia site was designed to be interactive and we are not to use it as a place to solicit business.

I believe if the question is posted then we should answer the question here and not ask the person to contact us for the answer. They are looking for an answer with no strings attached.

So far we are in agreement. I'm curious though that of all the posts that I read, and as Sylvia says, "am totally turned off", this question hasn't ellicted any response saying the opposite of these responders.
I also believe, Ross, that good information brings value to the site.
Thank you all and let's see what happens for a few days.
