There is no set rate in any market. Everything is negotiable and if neither party can agree, then both are free to not enter into an agreement.

I would like to introduce myself as the leading Real Estate agent
in the Long Island and Queens area. My goal as a listing agent is
to help you sell your home for the highest price, in the shortest
period of time, with the least amount of inconvenience to you.
Marketing and networking homes in today's market place.
This is not a job but my passion and that is priceless. Their is no
real set commission rate for our service and it should not be our
foremost goal. Please just give me a call as soon as you can.
Thank you.

The commission rate is negotiable between the seller and the Realtor. If any Realtor tells you differently, they are not being truthful. You have to compare companies and services. You have to evaluate the marketing plan of each Realtor to see who is giving you the most services and the most exposure.

An above average commission rate actually increases the odds your home will sell quicker and for a higher price. If you would like a more detailed explanation of this give me a call.

Mickey,

The current commission rates range from 4 to 6 percent these days. The rate is usually determined between the seller and the listing agent.
There are several factors that contribute to determining the commission rate. Motivation and urgency are some of the factors to consider when determining a commission rate. A good agent can help to determine what the best selling price and commission rate would be for the property.

I hope this helps,

Kathy

Mickey,

Gail is very wrong!

It is NOT against the law to discuss commissions! We can talk about it all we want. What we can't do is band together and try to price fix. The average commission is about 5.2%, but many agents insist on 6% or even more.

But you can also save about 1/2 the commission and list with a flat fee company. They will get you the same online exposure as most agents. you'll need to show the home yourself, and work with your attorney to negotiate the offer. But if you have some experience selling, you could save a bundle!

Commission is negotiable between you and the agent of your choice. Do keep in mind that low commission brokers in most cases is all that they have to offer.

What Mrs, Gladstone said is 100% correct. There is no set
price and you can shop around this is a very serious matter.
Pre-screen prospective agents. The difference
in hiring a real estate agent that merely lists your home versus hiring a
real estate agent that actually markets your home to sell quickly.

Discussion of commission rates is against the law. Every Realtor sets their own rates based upon what their perceived value is and the extent of their services, the projected marketing time and cooperation with other agents.

A Realtor should be hired based on their written marketing plan, experience, knowledge and focus on cooperating with other Realtors.
