Why, yes, Marvin, it is. But since it is still Winter time and barely out of 2010, one never knows if it is still pertinent or not, thus my answer.

Frank, not sure if you have found a mobile home in Lakeland or not yet but there are many mobile home communities here in Lakeland. Some of the things you need to look at are whether the home is on leased property where you pay monthly for the lease of the land and then separately for the cost of the mobile home, or is the property considered Real Property where you own the land and the mobile home as a single unit.
Things you need to be aware of in buying a mobile home are the following:
What age is the mobile home?
Can you get insurance for the home?
Does the home have the proper tie downs and such to secure it to the ground. Hurricanes are a factor in Florida and something you need to be aware of as you proceed with your search for the perfect home that fits your needs.
Option to buy is a great way to buy a home and yes it is doable although it is a more intense process as you want to get a lawyer to write up the option to buy paperwork so that you can get the best deal for your money.

While mobile homes are great, there are numerous deals on block and stick built homes. There are option to buy homes there as well. We can help you with either option you wish to choose. Email me if you would like to go home shopping!

Yes, a good senior manufactured neighborhood is Foxwood Estates. They have home only w/lot rent and home+land (fee simple) units available. I have a customer getting ready to sell their unit, if interested I can put you in touch.
