Small luxury SFHs with large garage? Are they anywhere to be found?

Asked by Andrew, California Sun Aug 10, 2008

So, I've been looking around just to see if I can find anything that'll suit my needs down the line.
I'm a single musician/artist and I spend a lot of time practicing during night time.
I have a passion for cars and as such I'll need a large garage (2-3 units).
Pool is a must too. I'm prepared to look to the valley for this. Townhouse/Condo
not an option because of my music. I've found a lot of great looking places in the
valley for less than $1,500,000 (which is my upper limit) but they're way too big
for me. I don't want to be roaming around in my own house. So the question:
Are there any luxurious single family homes w/large garage and less than
3 beds/2 baths? Also, so I'm not wasting anyone's time here I'm not buying before
early 2009, possibly later depending on how the market moves. Many TIA!
-. Andrew

Hi there Andrew, I know of several homes like this . I have sold homes to people who have similar requests with large garages for cars or work. I would like to help you when you are ready. If you drop me an e mail with te areas that you are considering and what you are looking for I can send you updates when suitable properties become available

Although my specialty is in West Los Angeles property, I would suggest that you take a look in Thousand Oaks. You would be able to get a home there that is not so close to neighbors, that way your music will not disturb anyone. Many of the homes in that area have pools and are on large lots. I lived there years ago and it was a very safe and beautiful area.
If you need a referral I can help you with that through my office (Prudential California Realty)
Best of Luck to you

Hi Andrew,

When looking for a specific need in a home, you might fare out best in focusing in an area where like minded people, such as yourself, have been there and done it. For example, No Hollywood, Studio City, Valley Villge, Toluca Lake, Burbank are locations near the studios where musicians/artists have preceded you and had the same needs, ergo - have built or customized their homes/properties to fit their needs, which matches your exact objective.

Hey Andrew,

In your price range you have a lot of options. If a two car garage is an option with guest house that might open some things up for you because 3 car garages are not that common. I actually have a listing coming up that is in Studio City that might fit the bill and won't be completed until early 2009 and will be below 1.5. If you will consider the other side of the hill, West LA you will have options too. Shoot me an email when you have a chance so I can explore what's out there and perhaps get a feel for style and areas. My email is mcarrabba@kw.com. You don't need a mini-mansion to get what your looking for. Even if you want to drive around just to get your toes wet, I'd love to help.
