How do I do a credit check on a prospective renter?

I need to do a credit check on a potenital renter, and want to know where I go for this service, and what is the cost involved.

You can have your potential tenant run their own credit report and submit it with their application. Just make sure it does not look altered. Ask them to email you a copy that they can get for free on any of the credit reporting agencies web sites.
There are numerous web sites that you can pay a fee to run a credit check. They will require proof that you own a rental property (tax bills, utility bills, public records, etc) and may require signed permission from the prospective tenant along with their ss#, current address, date of birth and possibly more depending on who you use. This is a company I have used for years
