Bene, did you use a realtor to purchase your home? If so, the realtor would have written it into the contract and the escrow company would have followed instructions based on the contract. If you bought directly from the seller, I'm afraid you may be out of luck now. Everything has to be written into the contract. You should have received a Final HUD 1 at the close of escrow. Review it. Perhaps you did receive a credit towards your closing costs.
Contact your Loan Officer or the title company where you closed on the house. Check your GFE (Good Faith Estimate) to ensure that the cost are NOT listed. Talk to your realtor? Consult with a Real Estate Attorney?
