Mary, Home Buyer in Winston Salem, NC

I am unable to find the size of this lot. Anyone know?

Asked by Mary, Winston Salem, NC Tue Dec 16, 2008

Also, are the bathrooms functioning? Are the fireplaces filled with cement? What makes them non-functional? Is there a basement or cellar? Thanks so much!

Mary,
This is an old farmhouse not to unlike one I use to own in Conover, NC. The fireplaces look like they were closed off. Now what they most likely did was to brick up most of the fireplace and then have register where a woodstove would connect and use the chimney as a flue. They are most likely non-functional because they do not have a flue liner. Where chimneys (masonary) have a ceramic liner that comes down if you were to look up these all you would see is the brick. There are several different methods to fix that if you want to burn wood in them or you can simply open them up and install gas logs as I did.
I am sure the one listed full bath works. You can see in the kitchen 2 picture a fairly new water heater. There is not a basement listed but, on the back of the house the is a small door that does not lead inside but, looks like a root cellar door. It could be a beautiful home with the features I see but, speaking from experience it will be a good amount of work. I love my home and it was a little larger with 2800 square feet and 4 bedrooms and I added a second full bath downstairs by taking some room off one of the other downstairs rooms.

Hope this helps,
If you need any help just let me know I cover the Triad and Rockingham County. I have some horse farms listed up there so I am there at least once a week.

I tried looking on the tax card and there is not a lot size listed unfortunately. I could do some more digging if you'd like me to. This is a foreclosure so the home is sold "as is". It does say it needs extensive work. To know for sure what that means we'd have to take a look at the property in person. If you'd like to set an appointment let me know. I actually grew up in Stoneville and I am very familiar with the area. It sounds like it has great potential if you are willing to do the work it needs. Best wishes!
