Baily Kounce, Both Buyer and Seller in Texas

Is there any web site that I can check which school my kid will attend according to our resident address/zip?

Asked by Baily Kounce, Texas Tue Dec 11, 2007

code?

The reason is that she likes her current school. We would like to remain in the same school if we buy a new house. So, I would like to check the new house's zip code to see if we can stay in the same school.

You should be able to find the school by going to this website , as long as the school district is registered with them .

You can look at the HEB website, but after a quick look I did not see where you can search by street or zip. Some ISD you can and some you can't. What I would suggest is to use a Realtor who can search in MLS by a particular school or perhaps area. Zip may not always work, because for example in Euless there are some places that are HEB schools and some Grapevine schools. Once you find the right house, I'd just double check again with the school system either HEB or Grapevine/CV to ensure the realtor was right and the listing was right in search for the right school. I can assist you if you need it.

In San Angelo, one can go to the school district website and check bus routes. Put in the address and you can find out where the kids are supposed to go. An alternative is to call the school, but there is risk in that. You would be amazed at who doesn't know what.

Thank you all very much. I did call the school, and get the web site that I can check the school in particular street.
Since the boundary changes sometime due to the reasons you stated, I sure will call the school to check before I buy a house.

Yes...however I like the idea of calling the school board. Boundries can and do change so if a particular school is important you might want to check first. Every school board is different. Some have maps and some have a program where you can type in the address and it will return the schools for you. I also suggest you go to the school as soon as you contract to put your name on their attendance list. There are some schools systems with full schools that will take students in their zone up to a limit and then even though you are in their zone, roll your attendance to a different school. HEB school website is http://www.hebisd.edu/

Baily,
When you find a house you are interested in, the best and easiest way is to call the school board. Boundaries change and the only way to be absolutely sure is to call and give them the address. They can tell you what school district it is in. Doesn't mean it won't change sometime down the road, neither does it mean the home you are currently in won't change.

I can't speak for Texas, but in MN school boundaries are adjusted with the additon of new schools, possible closing or consolidation of others and changes in population. I have simply called the disctrict on many occasions for clients, given them the address and gotten the school list for that property. They have always been very helpful!

Best Wishes!

Thank you for the reply. I want to buy a new house. I am researching on the location. My big concern is the school. I want to know which school we are going to attend before I buy the house.

The school web site does have a attendance boundary map. But I want to to be more specific about the address - matching - school.

The school district should have a boundary map on its website. Are you looking at the HEB district? Which exact school are you wanting to stay in?

I will be happy to help you.

Check your school district's website. Each district usually has a boundary map. I'm assuming you're not moving that far since you are trying to keep your child in the same school so I would check there first. Good luck!
