Eric, what happens sometimes on craigslist you will find a property for rent. People who post fraudulent ads also see the house and copy the info and drop the price.

If you respond to the ad and they send you an email back saying they are out of the country and want you to have the house you will know there is something fishy about the ad

It is hard to say whether this is fraud. The reality is this...$900 is not the market rate for such a home. I do not know whether they are talking about a studio, a shared room or the entire home. But most homes in the Santa Barbara area with that view will rent for $3000 and above.

It most likely is a fraudulent ad. Most of the time they will answer and say they are out of the country...be very careful. If it looks too good to be true it usually is!
