We are new to Iowa from the South.
We moved here this summer from the Memphis, TN area. We were loading a truck in over 100 degree weather. Now 6 months later we are trying to adjust to snow, ice & extremely cold weather. Before you move here, ask yourself do I want to live in a very clod climate. Most people here are very nice. We live in Charles City, called America's Hometown. It is a very beautiful small town, approx. 7500 people. It is like stepping back in time, compared to living in Memphis.
We have a very beautiful river running through the center of town, a smll town theater with very inexpensive tickets ( $2. per adult & $1. for children & Sr. citizens). We get a new first run movie weekly.
The groceries here are pretty much similar costs as in Memphis.
The schools are very good, they require penmanship ( which is great to me, as the schools we came from did not, and many children's writing was horrible).
You will learn quickly to buy different clothing than we had in a much warmer winter climate.
If you decide to come to Iowa, please consider our area.
Over all, our family loves it!
