Carole Paule…, Other/Just Looking in 34711

My husband has been transfered to Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport. We can't decide between Newnan, Fayetteville

or Powder Springs. We're concerned with crime in Powder Springs. Is anyone aware of a problem there?

I have lived in quite a few places in Atlanta (south, north, and west). I worked in Fayetteville about six years ago, and it was nice at that time, but I think it has become ghetto. Peachtree City is very nice but stats say that the crime rate there is getting pretty high too. Newnan used to be ghetto but I think that it is much nicer now but VERY crowded. Try Brooks Ga if you prefer more farmland scenery. I now live in Powder Springs and LOVE it. It is close to Atlanta but far enough away from the city life. Lithia Springs is VERY nice and VERY close to the airport. Tributary (a high-end subdivision) is located less than 10 miles from the airport. They are still developing the rest of it (golf courses, grocery stores, and offices). My daughter lives there and it is very nice (not my cup of tea though) Too much going on for me, and the houses are too close.

Look at Lithia Springs. More bang for your buck. It's is just off I-20 West and one exit from Thornton Road/Camp Creek Parkway-straight shot to the Airport. Very low crime...just look at the numbers. We have lived there for over two years, and have never had a crime problem in our area.

Smyrna/Mableton area is where I think the best location is. This wil be 25 minutes from the Airport as well as 20 minutes to Midtown/CNN. Property values are great and the crime is low. New construction is allways going on with more housing as well as shopping and restaurants are making this the place to be.

Carole,

I have some friends that work for Delta and most of them live in the Peachtree City & Newnan area. I lived in Powder Springs for about two years and enjoyed it there. All of these areas are going to be located close to the airport and have reasonable commuting times.

At no commitment required from you I can set up a custom home search page for you so you can get regular updates on homes for sale in this area. You can contact me through my profile on Trulia or visit my website for contact information.

In General, Powder Springs, and West Cobb are almost as convenient but you'll get a bigger bang for your buck. Peachtree City is probably the best city out of all them when you consider resale value and other factors. Fayetteville would be my choice out of the ones you mentioned.

If money were no object, you might pick Peachtree City, if you just wanted the largest house for the money, you might pick Powder Springs (or VIlla Rica, Douglasville, Dallas.... the list goes on for small cities that are growing rapidly West of Atlanta).

Good Luck!

I agree with the Peachtree City comment. Consistently the resale value is much higher in PTC than any other Fayette county city. It is very well established and you won't get 'as much' house and land for the money but it is a well loved area for the golf cart paths and lifestyle in general.

Have you considered Peachtree City? The average price of homes may be a bit higher than homes in the other areas that you mentioned; however, it is an area where many airline and airport employees reside. Welcome to Atlanta! Warm regards - Ted

Carole,
Powder Springs and West Cobb are a "best kept secret" in Atlanta--especially for airport personnel! I've lived here for 15 years and it is definitely not an area where I am concerned with crime. Our schools are great, we have many local churches in the community and for your family--an easy back-road commute to the airport.
I'd love to send you an informational packet about Powder Springs and West Cobb County. Please visit my website at http://www.KelliPhillips.com and you can laren more about the area and even request a relocation report. We would be thrilled to help you call Powder Springs home.
Regards,
Kelli Phillips

Dear Carole,

I do not live in Powder Springs, but it is part of my sales terrritory and I have never heard too much about crime. What you could do if it concerns you is visit my website and pull a neighborhood report, actually you can pull reports for all the areas you are looking at and it does give you a crime report.

I hope that will help you!

Carole,
I used to live in the Powder Springs area and I don't recall a lot of crime in Powder Springs.
What does your husband do at the airport? I know of an airpark community in Carroll County that is only a 40-45 minute drive to the airport. If you would like to come out and take a look, just drop me a line. If you already have an agent, have your agent drop me a line as well.

I have lived and worked in both Fayetteville and Newnan/Coweta County. They both have their good points. I actually prefer Coweta and so does my brother who works for Delta. The interstate access from Newnan/Sharpsburg/and even Senoia is great.

Call me if you don't have an agent yet, I'd love to talk to you about the two areas. I'm not familiar with Powder Springs but I would happily refer you to an expert in that area. 770-328-9169 or kschitwood@yahoo.com
