I agree with Cassandra - there are many lenders who will tell you different things. I know one with a Broker in Covington, GA who knows about VA because he closed a VA loan for one of my clients. He's ethical, very thorough and very personable... Ameritage Financial Services, Inc. ask for Paul - 678) 654-3760.
Congrats on using your VA Loan to purchase a home. With the changes in the mortgage industry, a lot of companies are going out of business. Make sure that who select is a qualified and ethical lender. If you are consistently hearing the same thing from lenders but one offers you a significantly better deal, be very cautious.
Also, if you do not already have your eligibility certificate, order it right away. On many of my VA loans that is the thing that has held us up the most. It could take as much as 8 weeks (sometimes longer) to receive that.
Good Luck and Congrats!

I am a mortgage lender in Edmond, OK.
I can't provide the financing for you, but I can offer a bit of advice.
The lender you choose is allowed by the VA to put a 1% broker fee on the front of the loan. At the same time, be aware that VA loans pay a good premium to the broker on the back. Make sure the interest rate they offer you is not too high. VA loans are not as credit score driven as conforming loans. As long as your credit score is above 580 you should be able to get a good interest rate.
I don't know if you ever found the Lender you were looking for, but here's a good one in the Covington, GA area: Ameritage Financial Services - Paul Griggs, Loan Officer (yes he's my husband and he's one of the best - I send my clients to speak to him along with 2 other loan officers at different companies) 678-654-3760 Their website is http://www.ameritagefinancialservices.com
Another good Loan Officer is Randy Brennan with SunTrust Mortgage. If you will go to my website - http://melissagriggs.yourkwagent.com there is a link to Randy under the Mortgage Provider button.
Good luck and I hope you found a good Lender!
