Epsom, as of August, 2008:

Sleepy town with some old-fashioned charm (Old Home Days, local talent show, that kind of thing). The nearest full-scale grocery store is a 15 minute drive from town. There are some small convenience stores in the center of town, and a great pharmacy. The roads to and from town are mixed. Some are beautifully rural. The main road from Concord (Route 4) is spotted with junkie businesses and buildings. So your arrival at your home might not be the one you wish for. The town is governed by elected Selectmen, and there's been a patchy history of how well they've done. There's also a zoning board which can make zoning decisions that make no sense. The people are friendly and tend to keep to themselves for the most part. There are nicer towns in central New Hampshire, but Epsom isn't bad for the money.

The good points of Epsom! We have owned property here for over thirty years. Epsom is close to the best of it all, but still has the small town tranquility. Under an hour to major airport, the beaches of the Atlantic coast, the Mountains for skiing, and hiking, the lakes region for boating. Boston is less than two hours away. And all of this while you are living in peace and tranquility!

Negatives: This is not a fast pace place. If you need constant city nightlife and taxi service, etc, this is not the place for you!

Hi Stacy,

I am not sure what is important to you in moving to a particular area. If you would elaborate on your situation and preferences, that may help. What may be a positive for one person may be a negative for another.

In addition, here are 2 websites on Epsom, NH that may be helpful:
