Changing times changes realtors. When in doubt of one change for a better one.

Just came accross your answer tonight and I would suggest at least considering an agent that lives in the area. The more they help you get for your home, the more theirs may be worth. They will have more of a vested interest. (I live in Troy), Next look at their experience and (Results during their time in as an agent.) So many agents want to say that they have been in the business 10 years when maybe their first 8 were part time. The average agent only sells 9-10 homes per year. An agent with a slightly higher volume may have more experience. AND, you want to lookk for an agent that really knows how to market homes! As to see an example of their marketing.

You need to be interviewing agents. The ones that know their business, the market, and economics are easy to recognize. I pride myself on being the agent of choice because I am tuned in to what is going on in my area and my state.

What is it you are looking for? I am not an agent but work with them every single day and can recommend a few very good ones in the area as can the posters below I am sure.

I would want someone who is flexible and been around a long time. They have seen the ups and downs and understands the current market and the indicators as to were it may be headed. It is all about asking the right questions. Interview a few (or more if needed) agents. Ask some questions and see what they have to say. If they are selling the hype, how much they will do and just make outrageous claims my experience is to pass on them and find a more grounded, realistic agent. They might not sound as exciting as the one who promises the Sun and Moon but they almost always end up outproducing the ones who do.
