There are many schools to choose from, both public and private. There are schools to fit any criteria and budget. Many local residents use the public school systems without incident, while others choose private schools for personal reasons. Fort Lauderdale is not far from many surrounding cities, which leaves the option of also using schools in neighboring cities. If you require special needs, religious education, or any particular education standards, it can be found with a little research.

For anyone interested in pursuing higher education, the South Florida Education Center in Davie has quite a few choices, from the Broward Community College to Nova Southeastern University to Florida Atlantic University-Broward. They're all located in one central area, only minutes from downtown Fort Lauderdale.

The Fort Lauderale area is part of the Broward County School System (browardshools.com) that has seen tremendous growth since the 1970's. Enrollment for the 2006-2007 school year saw a slight decrease for the first time in decades. Projections for the future anticipate more modest growth. The school system offers a wide array of oppurtunities for all students including magnet programs for the arts and charter shools that are privately run. We also have Nova University Schools that are affiliated with the university and offer accelerated programs. The private shools in our area consist of a wide array of choices including Pine Crest Preparatory School which has educated many of our business and political leaders. We also have a large assortment of religous sponsered schools including christian, jewish and many others. We enjoy a large selection of colleges and universities from excellent community colleges to both public and private universities in the area. The educational oppurtunities in our part of paradise have never been better. For more information on our schools or other important features of South Florida you can send me an e-mail at the address below and I would be happy to help and tell you what I have learned as a resident of Broward County for 35 years.
