While I respect these companies' right to do business, I have difficulty understanding why any real estate agent would/should (hindsight perspective) have to pay an intermediary to capture business- it's an interference that doesn't serve either the consumer or real estate agents. An intermediary is yet another cost for real estate agents to absorb, making it a cost to do business that consumers absorb. Let the buyers/sellers locate you by hitting your OWN website. That seems like a better place to invest in your business. Again, a short six months hindsight opinion.

I allowed myself to get sucked into a large company that was "pay-per-click" for people looking in the area. Because our website permits me to see how long the "clicks" remained on the site, it was really clear that the only people looking were real estate agents seeking to know who had the leads in my territory. What a waste of money. Six months into it, and I'm finished- and have a little more to spend on the website upgrades that are helpful to buyers looking, not realtors seeking pay-per-lead!

I have tried some lead generation companies without much luck. I have found that it really ends up costing more than the benefits that you get from it. I would spend your money on other things. http://www.askforjames.com

As a 4 year employee of MostChoice.com, I am completely convinced that we have the Best Leads You Can Buy! I can only say this because of my experience from working in the Customer Service and Leads Departments for 1 of those years. We are truly an "Inbound Only" lead source that attracts people who have initiated a search themselves at a major search engine and seen us as a top sponsored result. We will not solicit with spam or use junky affiliate sites or pop-ups like other companies do.

We are very clear in our listings to say that we're going to get the customer off to a local agent who can help them with information and quotes. We only want people to click through to us if the know someone will call and want someone to call them back.

I have tried some of the leads services. The problem I found is that they offer the same lead to many agents. So you end up paying to compete. Their pitch is that one lead that you take to closing pays for their service. True enough. But you would have better response to just greeting and socializing in your community.

I absolutely agree with Deborah. I have never once purchased a lead, and don't ever plan on doing so. Not only is the relationship far too impersonal and somewhat mercenary to establish trust and rapport, but I don't like treating people like commodities. If I have invested money into a buyer, for instances, am I really going to advise this person not to buy if it is not in their best interest? I've just always found paying for leads somewhat sordid.

I have not yet seen any local agents build a viable business from purchasing leads from any source.

No. I bought leads my first year in business. Paid a lot of money for nothing. Now, I put my money into my website and let that bring me leads. Concensus of opinion with the experienced agents is never pay for leads.

I have not, but I looked into it awhile ago. It seemed to me that it was extremely expensive.

No Lee. I don't buy leads. Most services that try to sell you leads are not worth the money. Nothing can beat doing your own lead generation. If you do it right, you can sell your own leads. Believe me, there are no shortcuts in this business. Get the Millionaire Real Estate Agent book and follow the model.
